FASTag Annual Toll Pass 2025

Starting 15th August 2025, the Indian government is rolling out a new initiative for highway users — a FASTag-based annual toll pass that allows unlimited travel across toll plazas nationwide for just ₹3000 per year. This revolutionary scheme is part of a larger push towards a seamless, digital tolling experience and aims to make road travel smoother and more cost-effective for everyday citizens.

What is the FASTag Annual Toll Pass Scheme?

Under this scheme, vehicle owners can pay a one-time annual fee of ₹3000 and enjoy toll-free access across India’s national highways. The move was confirmed by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who addressed public concerns and clarified the details through his official social media channels.

Key Features of the Toll Pass:

  • ✅ Applicable from 15th August 2025
  • ✅ Annual fee: ₹3000 only
  • ✅ Valid across all national highway toll plazas
  • ✅ Based on FASTag technology
  • ✅ One-time registration, no recurring monthly fees
  • ✅ Available for private vehicle owners

Why This Matters:

Until now, toll payments were made on a per-journey basis through FASTag, leading to variable travel costs. This scheme removes uncertainty and offers unlimited travel for a flat rate — a big win for regular commuters, long-distance drivers, and travel businesses.

What Did Nitin Gadkari Say?

Nitin Gadkari explained that the initiative will:

  • Reduce toll booth congestion
  • Promote digital toll payments
  • Benefit middle-class commuters
  • Encourage use of AI-based tolling infrastructure

He added that advanced systems like number plate scanning and GPS-based tolling will also be introduced in the future to further enhance efficiency.

How to Apply for the Annual Toll Pass:

The detailed application process will be available soon on the official FASTag portal and participating bank websites. Users will need to:

  1. Register their vehicle and FASTag
  2. Pay the ₹3000 annual fee
  3. Receive confirmation and activation for unlimited travel

1. How are trips counted under the Annual Toll Pass?

  • One Entry & Exit = One Trip: On access-controlled expressways like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, one trip is counted from entry to exit.

    • Delhi to Haridwar: 4 tolls = 4 trips one way, 8 trips round trip.

2. Will it work on State Highways too?

No. This scheme is applicable only on NHAI and National Expressways. For state highways, tolls will be deducted from your regular FASTag balance as usual.
